Biochemazone Artificial Perspiration as per ASTM Method D2322-00 BZ471 is a ready-to-use, sterile synthetic sweat at pH 7.5 for leather testing. ASTM D2322, Standard Test Method for Resistance of Shoe Upper Leather to Artificial Perspiration, determines how shoe upper leather stands up to perspiration: the leather is treated with the artificial perspiration and then assessed for grain cracking, area loss and loss of flexibility.
Perspiration is one of the main causes of deterioration of leather in footwear – it hardens the leather, cracks the grain and shrinks the upper. BZ471 reproduces that attack in a controlled way, so that tannages, finishes and leathers from different suppliers can be compared before the shoe is made. Unopened, it has a 1-year shelf life at 2–30 °C; a customized pH is available on request.
Prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system, BZ471 is used by footwear and leather manufacturers, tanneries and test laboratories.
