Product Overview
Biochemazone Artificial Eccrine Sweat-Sebum Emulsion BZ130 is a ready-to-use emulsion of artificial eccrine sweat and artificial sebum. Skin never deposits sweat alone: every touch transfers a film of watery sweat and oily sebum together, and that film is what corrodes, stains and smears a surface. BZ130 lets you apply the same film every time, for corrosion-resistance and alloy studies and for handling tests.
The aqueous phase consists of amino acids, minerals and metabolites that simulate the composition, properties and pH of human eccrine sweat; oleic acid acts as the emulsifying agent for the sebum phase. Two variants are supplied: an oil-in-water emulsion (95% water, 5% oil) and a water-in-oil emulsion (95% oil, 5% water) – state the variant you need in the order notes or by email. BZ130 is supplied not stabilized and preservative-free; custom-pH and stabilized versions are available on request.
BZ130 is used by manufacturers of alloys, platings, coatings, consumer electronics and wearables. The stabilized emulsion is BZ118; for sweat alone see Artificial Eccrine Perspiration BZ110, and for sebum alone see ASTM D4265-14 Artificial Sebum BZ116.
Key Features & Benefits
✅ Sweat and Sebum in One Emulsion – Reproduces the mixed film that skin leaves on a touched surface
✅ Two Variants – Oil-in-water (95% water / 5% oil) or water-in-oil (95% oil / 5% water)
✅ Not Stabilized – Preservative-free – no preservative or stabilizer added
✅ Ready to Use – No separate preparation and emulsification of sweat and sebum
✅ Reproducible & Standardized – Consistent batch-to-batch composition for routine QC and inter-laboratory comparison
✅ Made in Canada – Manufactured under ISO 9001 / GMP quality systems

Frequently Asked Questions
How does BZ130 differ from BZ118?
BZ130 is not stabilized and has a 1-year shelf life unopened. BZ118 is the same sweat-sebum emulsion with a preservative / stabilizer system and a 1-year shelf life unopened.
Which variant should I choose?
Choose the oil-in-water emulsion (95% water, 5% oil) for a mainly aqueous sweat carrying a little sebum, as on freshly sweating skin. Choose the water-in-oil emulsion (95% oil, 5% water) for a mainly oily film, as in fingerprint residue on a touch surface. Shake well before each use.
