The textile industry places a great emphasis on colorfastness as discoloration can occur due to various factors such as perspiration, light, and rubbing. Sweat contains salt, urea, and lactic acid that can cause the dye’s bonding with the fabric fibers to weaken, ultimately leading to fading of the color. Furthermore, amino acids present in sweat can cling to the fabric and leave protein stains, further damaging the appearance of the textile.

Colorfastness is a crucial aspect of the textile industry as discoloration can occur due to perspiration, light, rubbing, or a combination of these factors. Sweat contains salt, urea, and lactic acid that can damage the dye’s bonding with fabric fibers, causing the color to fade. Furthermore, amino acids in sweat can stick to the fabric, resulting in protein stains.

Artificial Perspiration as per AATCC Test Method 15

To ensure that the textiles are colorfast to acid perspiration, various tests such as AATCC Test Method 15 and Test Method 125 Artificial Perspiration are used. These tests determine the combined effect of light and perspiration on dyed, printed, or colored textile fibers, yarns, and fabrics of all types. The pH 4.3 solution is suitable for testing dyestuffs applied to textiles and can be customized as per the user’s requirements.

Artificial Perspiration as per ISO 105-B07, and ISO 105-E04

ISO 105-B07 and ISO 105-E04 Artificial Perspiration are also employed to test the combined effect of perspiration solution and light exposure or perspiration only on all textiles. These test solutions are acidic and alkaline with a pH of 5.5 and 8.0, respectively. They are suitable for all forms of textiles and can be customized based on specific needs.

Artificial Perspiration as per ISO 11641

Similarly, ISO 11641 Artificial Perspiration is used to determine the colorfastness to perspiration of leather in all stages of processing, including gloving, clothing, lining leathers, and unlined shoe uppers. This alkaline perspiration solution simulates the most demanding conditions and has a significant impact on the leather color.
