Product Overview
Biochemazone FeSSGF (Fed State Simulated Gastric Fluid) BZ415 is a ready-to-use synthetic solution that mimics the properties of gastric fluid in the fed state, at pH 4.5. The pH of the stomach after a meal is about 3 to 6. FeSSGF contains water, electrolytes, enzymes and other digestive substances that replicate the physical and chemical properties of the natural fluid. Its viscosity, density and pH are set to match the natural fluid, and it stays stable through the test.
It is a biorelevant medium for in vitro studies of how oral dosage forms behave in the stomach after a meal. Research laboratories use it to study the interaction between gastric fluid and the fed-state environment, including digestive health and gastric function. It is also used to test and calibrate medical devices that work with gastric fluid, in the development of new technologies and procedures for the gastrointestinal tract, and in training, where it takes the place of human gastric fluid.
It is supplied stabilized and has a 1-year shelf life unopened; a preservative-free version (6-month shelf life) and a dried Powder Version Kit are available on request. Because it contains enzymes, keep it at 2–8 °C if it is to be stored for a long time. The formulation, minerals, organic content and pH can be customized. This simulated fluid is for scientific research and in vitro use only; it is not for clinical diagnosis or treatment. For the fed intestine see Fed State Simulated Intestinal Fluid (FeSSIF); for the early, middle and late fed stomach see Fed-State Gastric Media, Snapshot FeSSGF (BZ602).

Frequently Asked Questions
How does FeSSGF differ from simulated gastric fluid?
FeSSGF represents the stomach after a meal, at pH 4.5. Simulated Gastric Fluid (SGF) pH 1.5 (BZ175) represents the acid, fasting stomach at pH 1.5.
How should it be stored?
Store it at 2–30 °C; because it contains enzymes, 2–8 °C is best for prolonged storage and to keep the enzymes active. It is shipped at room temperature. Unopened, the stabilized solution has a 1-year shelf life; a preservative-free version with a 6-month shelf life and a dried Powder Version Kit with a 2-year shelf life are available on request.
