Biochemazone Nipple Aspirate Fluid (NAF) BZ342, also called synthetic or simulated nipple aspirate fluid, is a sterile, ready-to-use, water-based solution that closely resembles human nipple aspirate fluid, at pH 7.4. Its physicochemical properties – pH, buffer capacity, surface tension and viscosity – were assessed during development and optimized to mimic the natural fluid.
The breasts of adult non-lactating women secrete a small volume of fluid into the breast ducts, called nipple aspirate fluid, and this fluid is studied for the diagnosis of breast cancer. Because only very small volumes can be collected, BZ342 gives researchers a consistent synthetic matrix for in vitro work in its place.
It is supplied stabilized and has a 1-year shelf life unopened; a preservative-free version (6-month shelf life) and a dried Powder Version Kit are available on request. The formulation, enzymes and pH can be customized. This simulated fluid is for scientific research and in vitro use only; it is not for clinical diagnosis or treatment.
