Biochemazone Simulated Intrapleural Fluid BZ290, also called artificial intrapleural fluid or synthetic intrapleural fluid, is a sterile, ready-to-use solution that simulates the composition and pH of intrapleural fluid. It can be used directly and is supplied at pH 7.6; the pH can be customized to the project requirement.
The intrapleural, or pleural, space is the fluid-filled space between the parietal and the visceral layers of the pleura. In normal conditions it contains only a small amount of serous pleural fluid. BZ290 gives laboratories an intrapleural fluid of constant composition for respiratory research in vitro.
It is supplied stabilized and has a 1-year shelf life unopened; a preservative-free version (6-month shelf life) and a dried Powder Version Kit are available on request. Because it contains protein and mucin, keep it at 2–8 °C if it is to be stored for a long time. The stabilizer, pH and contents can be customized to the project. This simulated fluid is for scientific research and in vitro use only; it is not for clinical diagnosis or treatment.
