Biochemazone Artificial Plasma Fluid BZ273, also called simulated plasma fluid, is a sterile, ready-to-use plasma simulant at pH 7.4 ± 0.05 with an osmolality of 290 ± 10 mOsm/kg. It contains a formulated mix of proteins and amino acids, so that it reproduces the essential properties of human plasma – the liquid part of blood, which carries the cells, proteins, electrolytes and nutrients.
The standard formulation is clear like water and contains no haemoglobin. A red simulated plasma, coloured by haemoglobin, is a customized version made on request. BZ273 is used in pharmaceutical and biotechnology research, medical device development and testing, hematology studies, tissue engineering and synthetic biology, wherever a realistic plasma environment is needed without donor plasma.
It is supplied stabilized and has a 1-year shelf life unopened; a preservative-free version (6-month shelf life) and a dried Powder Version Kit are available on request. Because it contains protein, keep it at 2–8 °C if it is to be stored for a long time. This simulated fluid is for scientific research and in vitro use only; it is not for clinical diagnosis or treatment.
