Biochemazone Simulated Body Fluid (SBF), Sterile BZ173 is a sterile, ready-to-use simulated body fluid (SBF). SBF is a metastable solution – a solution supersaturated with respect to apatite, containing calcium ions and phosphate ions. It is widely used for the in vitro evaluation of bioactive materials, on which it can form bone-like apatite.
BZ173 gives laboratories simulated body fluid ready-made, so that no salts have to be weighed and dissolved and the same solution is used from test to test. It is used to assess the in vitro apatite-forming ability (bioactivity) of biomaterials such as implant materials, coatings and bioceramics.
It is supplied stabilized and has a 1-year shelf life unopened; a preservative-free version (6-month shelf life) and a dried Powder Version Kit are available on request.
