Biochemazone Revised SBF (r-SBF) BZ332 is a sterile, ready-to-use revised simulated body fluid (r-SBF), supplied at pH 7.4. SBF is a metastable solution – a solution supersaturated with respect to apatite, containing calcium ions and phosphate ions. It is widely used for the in vitro evaluation of bioactive materials, on which it can form bone-like apatite.
BZ332 gives laboratories the r-SBF formulation ready-made, so that no salts have to be weighed and dissolved and the same solution is used from test to test. It is used to assess the in vitro apatite-forming ability (bioactivity) of biomaterials such as implant materials, coatings and bioceramics.
It is supplied stabilized and has a 1-year shelf life unopened; a preservative-free version (6-month shelf life) and a dried Powder Version Kit are available on request. The pH and the contents can be customized to the project. This reagent is for scientific research only.
