Product Overview

Biochemazone DIN 53160 Artificial Saliva BZ107 is a ready-to-use, sterile artificial saliva at pH 6.8 prepared according to DIN 53160-1:2010-10. The standard specifies a method for testing the colourfastness of articles for common use that are intended to be taken into the mouth: the article is kept in contact with a filter paper wetted with artificial saliva, and any colour that transfers to the paper is assessed.

BZ107 is used to test toys and children’s articles, teething and feeding products, pencils and stationery, packaging, textiles and other coloured consumer goods that a child or adult may put in the mouth. It gives laboratories the test liquid in a ready, reproducible form.

Unopened, it has a 1-year shelf life at 2–30 °C and is shipped at room temperature; a preservative-free version and a dried Powder Version Kit are available on request. Custom pH is available on request. This solution is intended for product testing and research, not for in vivo medical use. For the current edition of the standard see DIN 53160:2023-07 Compliant Saliva Simulant; for the perspiration part see DIN 53160-2:2010-10 Artificial Perspiration BZ131.
