Biochemazone Artificial Saliva for Nicotine Pouch and Smokeless Tobacco Dissolution Testing BZ614 is an artificial saliva made to the DIN 53160-1 saliva recipe, the medium used in published dissolution methods for oral nicotine products. For example, a 2021 study of nicotine release from oral tobacco-derived nicotine pouches (Aldeek et al., Separations) used DIN 53160-1 artificial saliva in a USP apparatus 4 flow-through cell at 37 °C.
The saliva contains the main electrolytes of human saliva and has a pH of about 6.8. Because flow-through dissolution uses the medium continuously (for example 4 mL/min for an hour or more per cell), BZ614 is supplied in 1 L bottles and 5, 10 and 20 L containers, filtered and ready to degas.
