Product Overview
Biochemazone Fusayama/Meyer Artificial Saliva BZ105 is a ready-to-use, sterile artificial saliva at pH 4.9 for testing products for corrosion, colourfastness and discolouration. The Fusayama/Meyer formulation is a mineral saliva widely used in the dental literature for corrosion work: it closely resembles the mineral composition of natural saliva and contains no proteins or enzymes, so results reflect the electrochemical attack of the salts and are easy to reproduce.
BZ105 is used to test a wide variety of products that stay in the mouth, including dental metal alloys, orthodontic wires and brackets, implants and restorative materials: immersion and electrochemical corrosion tests, ion-release measurements, and colour-stability tests of resins, ceramics and coatings. The slightly acidic pH of 4.9 gives a more demanding condition than neutral saliva.
It is supplied not stabilized and preservative-free, with a 6-month shelf life unopened; a stabilized version is available on request and has a 1-year shelf life. Custom pH is available on request. This solution is intended for alloy corrosion testing and research, not for in vivo medical use. For the modified formulation see Modified Fusayama/Meyer Artificial Saliva BZ401; for the fluoride-containing version see BZ655; for the ISO corrosion test of dental metals see Artificial Saliva ISO 10271.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is Fusayama/Meyer saliva used for corrosion testing?
It is a simple, well-documented mineral solution, so results can be compared with a large body of published dental corrosion work, and it contains no proteins that would change during the test.
How long does the solution keep?
Unopened, the not-stabilized solution has a 6-month shelf life at 2–30 °C. A stabilized version with a 1-year shelf life is available on request.
