Product Overview
Biochemazone Artificial Perspiration, ISO 12870 Sweat – Not Stabilized BZ147 is a ready-to-use, sterile artificial perspiration for spectacle frames. It is used for the resistance-to-perspiration test of ISO 12870, Ophthalmic optics – Spectacle frames, which applies to unglazed spectacle frames designed for use with all prescription lenses. The standard also applies to frames made from natural organic materials, but not to custom-made spectacle frames or to products designed specifically to provide personal eye protection. The test solution is lactic acid and sodium chloride in purified water. ISO 12870 sets no pH for it; as prepared it is strongly acidic, about pH 2. In the test the frame is held above the solution in a closed container at 55 °C, for 8 hours and then a further 16 hours, and is inspected for corrosion, discolouration and coating damage.
BZ147 is supplied not stabilized and preservative-free: no preservative or stabilizer is added that could affect a coating or a metal-release result. It has a 6-month shelf life unopened. If your method calls for a different acidity, the solution is supplied at any pH from 2 to 9 at no extra cost – state the pH in the order notes, or order the custom-pH listings BZ149 (not stabilized) and BZ150 (stabilized).
The solution is prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system. BZ147 is used by frame manufacturers, coating and plating suppliers and optical test laboratories to check that frame fronts, temples, nose pads and their coatings do not corrode, discolour or peel in contact with sweat.
