Product Overview
Biochemazone BS EN 1811:2011 Artificial Perspiration BZ120 is a ready-to-use, sterile artificial sweat at pH 6.5 for the nickel-release test of EN 1811 – the reference method for the release of nickel from post assemblies inserted into pierced ears and other pierced parts of the human body, and from articles intended to come into direct and prolonged contact with the skin. The test solution of the standard is a sodium chloride / lactic acid / urea sweat adjusted to pH 6.5. Spectacle frames and sunglasses are outside the scope of EN 1811.
The Stabilized version contains a preservative / stabilizer system that keeps the solution free of microbial growth through repeated opening, so that screening and routine comparative tests can be run from the same bottle. Where the method calls for freshly prepared solution without preservative or stabilizer, use the preservative-free version, available on request, or the Powder Version Kit.
Prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system, every batch is standardised for composition and pH. BZ120 is used by jewellery, watch, fastener and garment-trim manufacturers, plating shops and testing laboratories to screen articles for nickel release, and to compare alloys, platings and coatings during development.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is this solution used for?
It is the artificial sweat for EN 1811, which measures how much nickel an article releases during prolonged skin contact. The article is immersed in the sweat and the nickel released into the solution is then measured.
Can I use the stabilized solution for an accredited EN 1811 test?
EN 1811 calls for freshly prepared test solution. The stabilized solution is intended for screening, development and routine comparative work. For reference testing, use the preservative-free version or the Powder Version Kit and follow the preparation requirements of the standard.
