Biochemazone Synthetic Blood ISO 16603 BZ567 is a red, non-biological test fluid prepared for the ISO 16603 method, which determines the resistance of protective clothing materials to penetration by blood and body fluids. The fluid is adjusted to the low surface tension of blood and body fluids, so it wets fabrics, films and seams the way real blood does, while remaining safe and consistent to handle.
Each batch is prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system and checked for surface tension (0.042 ± 0.002 N/m) and pH (7.3; typical range 7.2–7.4). The strong red colour gives a clear visual end point when the fluid strikes through a specimen.
BZ567 is used by protective-clothing manufacturers and test laboratories to screen gown, coverall, apron and glove materials under stepped hydrostatic pressure, and as the screening step before viral-penetration testing to ISO 16604. It contains no human or animal blood.
