Biochemazone Simulated Sweat Gland Secretions BZ427 is a ready-to-use synthetic solution designed to mimic the secretion of the human sweat glands. It contains the components that give the natural secretion its physical and chemical properties – water, electrolytes and other relevant biomolecules – and is adjusted in viscosity, density and colour to resemble it. Natural sweat gland secretion has a pH of about 4.5 to 5.5; BZ427 is supplied at pH 5.5.
BZ427 is used by research laboratories to study the interaction between sweat and the skin environment – thermoregulation, hydration and general skin health – and in tests that measure biomarkers in sweat. It is also used to evaluate and calibrate diagnostic tools, wearable sensors and laboratory equipment that interact with sweat, and to give medical students and professionals realistic training material without the need for real secretions.
It is supplied not stabilized and preservative-free, with a 6-month shelf life unopened; a stabilized version with non-toxic preservatives is available on request and has a 1-year shelf life.
