Product Overview
Biochemazone Kidney-Stone Research Urine BZ648 is an artificial urine for calcium oxalate crystallisation studies. It is used to measure nucleation, crystal growth and aggregation, and to screen inhibitors such as citrate, magnesium, plant extracts and new drug candidates.
Because a urine that is supersaturated with calcium oxalate starts to crystallise as soon as it is made, it is supplied as two solutions: Solution A contains calcium with part of the urine salts, and Solution B contains oxalate with the rest. Mix equal volumes at the start of the experiment. The mixed urine has a pH of about 6.0 (range 5.5–6.5) and contains sodium, potassium, ammonium, magnesium, chloride, sulfate, phosphate and citrate at typical urinary levels. A blank base urine without calcium and oxalate is available for controls.
Published crystallisation methods use different calcium and oxalate levels; check them against your method, and calculate supersaturation with speciation software if needed. We can match the levels in your protocol. Each batch is prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system.
