Product Overview
Biochemazone FaSSIF-V2 BZ572 is the updated fasted-state simulated intestinal fluid described by Jantratid et al. (2008). Compared with the original FaSSIF, Version 2 uses a lower lecithin level and a maleate buffer in place of phosphate, which brings its solubilising capacity and osmolality closer to fluid aspirated from the fasted human small intestine.
The medium contains bile salt (sodium taurocholate, 3 mM) and lecithin (0.2 mM) in a maleate buffer at pH 6.5, with an osmolality of about 180 mOsm/kg. It is supplied ready to use, prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system.
BZ572 is used for biorelevant dissolution and solubility testing of poorly soluble drugs, for formulation screening, and for studying how a product is likely to behave in the fasted small intestine before in vivo work.
Key Features & Benefits
✅ Version 2 Composition – Follows the updated fasted-state medium published in 2008
✅ pH 6.5 – Maleate-buffered to the fasted small-intestine pH
✅ Bile Salt + Lecithin – Sodium taurocholate 3 mM and lecithin 0.2 mM form biorelevant mixed micelles
✅ Physiological Osmolality – About 180 mOsm/kg
✅ Enzyme-Free – No pancreatin; suitable for dissolution and solubility work
✅ Ready-to-Use – No powder weighing or equilibration step
✅ ISO 3696 Grade Water – Prepared using high-purity laboratory water
✅ Made in Canada – Manufactured under ISO 9001 / GMP quality systems
