Product Overview
Biochemazone Drosophila Haemolymph-Like Saline BZ717 is a ready-to-use saline for larval neuromuscular junction (NMJ) recordings and dissections. HL3 was described by Stewart et al. (1994) to match the ionic make-up of larval haemolymph, which is low in sodium and high in magnesium, and it keeps larval preparations stable for long recordings.
The saline contains sodium, potassium and magnesium chlorides, bicarbonate, trehalose and sucrose, buffered with HEPES at a pH of 7.2. HL3.1 is a later version with lower magnesium, used where magnesium affects synaptic transmission. A calcium-free HL3 is offered for dissection, or for labs that add calcium at their chosen concentration. The saline contains no animal-derived ingredients and is sterile-filtered.
Calcium content is stated on each label; check it against your protocol. Each batch is prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system.
