Product Overview
Biochemazone Coagulated Blood Test Soil Kit BZ629 provides a clotting blood soil for the toughest cleaning tests. Lyophilised (freeze-dried) heparinised sheep blood is reconstituted with purified water and mixed with protamine sulfate just before use; the protamine neutralises the heparin and the blood clots on the test surface, much like dried and clotted blood on surgical instruments.
Protamine-coagulated sheep blood was one of the national test soils in the annexes of ISO/TS 15883-5:2005 (now withdrawn). It is still used to challenge washer-disinfectors, lumened instruments and robotic instruments. The blood has a pH of about 7.4 (range 7.2–7.6).
The kit is supplied dry in two parts: lyophilised heparinised sheep blood and protamine sulfate powder, with reconstitution and mixing instructions. Because the soil starts to clot once mixed, it must be made fresh. The dry kit is of animal origin, ships at room temperature and has a 2-year shelf life unopened. Each batch is prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system.
