Product Overview
Biochemazone Simulated Guinea Pig, Hamster and Ferret Plasma and Urine BZ714 are surrogate matrices for bioanalytical work in species where real blank matrix is costly or hard to obtain. They are used for calibrators, quality-control samples and method development in infectious-disease, vaccine and toxicology studies.
The plasma simulants contain electrolytes, glucose, urea, creatinine and albumin at levels based on published reference ranges for each species, with a pH of about 7.4 (range 7.3–7.5). The urine simulants follow each species’ typical urine: guinea pig urine is alkaline at pH about 8.5 (range 8.0–9.0), hamster urine pH about 8.0 (range 7.5–8.5), and ferret urine, as in other carnivores, is more acidic at pH about 6.5 (range 6.0–7.0). Albumin is bovine serum albumin (animal-derived).
Reference values for these species vary between strains and studies; we can adjust any analyte to your own data. Surrogate matrices do not replace real-matrix validation where your guidance requires it. Each batch is prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system.
