Product Overview
Biochemazone Artificial Cattle Urine BZ685 is a synthetic urine for field and laboratory trials of nitrogen losses from urine patches on pasture and soil. Using a defined urine instead of collected urine gives the same nitrogen load and composition in every plot and every season.
The nitrogen is supplied mainly as urea, with hippuric acid, allantoin, creatinine and uric acid, and potassium, chloride and bicarbonate salts, which make cattle urine alkaline. Kool et al. (2006, Soil Biology & Biochemistry) found that a mix containing at least urea and hippuric acid tracks real urine best in soil emission tests. Two strengths are offered, standard and high nitrogen, within the range reported for cattle urine. The pH is about 8.0 (range 7.5–8.5). All components are synthetic; the urine contains no animal-derived ingredients.
Measured total nitrogen is reported for each batch. Check the nitrogen rate and composition used in your trial design. Each batch is prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system.
