Biochemazone 0.9% Saline Test Liquid BZ592 is the 0.9% (w/w) sodium chloride solution used as the test liquid for superabsorbent polymers and urine-absorbing aids. It is the liquid used in the ISO 17190 series (polyacrylate superabsorbent powders for urine-absorbing aids – free swell capacity, centrifuge retention capacity, absorption under pressure) and for whole-product absorption testing of incontinence products to ISO 11948-1.
Absorption results depend strongly on salt concentration and water quality, so each batch is prepared gravimetrically with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water and checked for conductivity and density before release. The solution is unbuffered with a pH of about 6.0–7.0, and it is supplied in bulk sizes because superabsorbent laboratories use litres every day.
