Product Overview

Biochemazone Artificial Perspiration, DIN-EN/IEC60068-2-70 Sweat, Stabilized BZ470 is a ready-to-use, sterile synthetic sweat at pH 4.5 for abrasion testing of markings and letterings. DIN EN 60068-2-70 / IEC 60068-2-70 (Environmental testing – Test Xb) determines how well markings and letterings on flat or curved surfaces withstand rubbing by fingers and hands, as happens when keyboards, actuators and touch interfaces are operated by hand. The same test determines resistance to fluid contamination in normal use.

In the test a piston presses a test cloth wetted with the test fluid against the marking for a set number of strokes. BZ470 is the sweat-type fluid for that test: it simulates human perspiration so that wear caused by sweaty fingers can be reproduced in the laboratory. It is supplied stabilized, with a 1-year shelf life unopened; a not-stabilized, preservative-free version and a customized pH or ionic composition are available on request. The standard pH is 4.5.

Prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system, BZ470 is used by makers of electronics, automotive interiors, medical devices and consumer goods, and by test laboratories. The same solution is offered in 200 mL as part of Artificial Eccrine for Corrosion Testing BZ392; for colourfastness of articles for common use see DIN 53160:2023-07 Perspiration Simulant BZ444.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the IEC 60068-2-70 test measure?
It measures how well markings and letterings withstand rubbing by fingers and hands, and how surfaces resist fluid contamination in normal use. A test cloth wetted with the fluid is rubbed over the marking under a defined force for a set number of strokes.

Is a version without preservative available?
Yes. BZ470 is stabilized as standard; a not-stabilized, preservative-free version with a 6-month shelf life is supplied on request – state it in the order notes.
