Biochemazone Synthetic Sweat Formulation BZ459 is a ready-to-use, sterile laboratory sweat at pH 5.5 that replicates the composition and properties of natural human sweat. It contains water, amino acids, electrolytes such as sodium, chloride and potassium, and other minor components found in sweat. The pH of 5.5 reflects the slightly acidic nature of sweat on the skin surface, and the viscosity and density are adjusted to match the thin, water-like consistency of perspiration.
BZ459 is used to study how sweat interacts with skin, materials and the environment: in dermatology and skin-hydration research, in corrosion and fabric-durability testing, in the testing and calibration of wearables, fitness trackers and skin sensors, and in the development of skincare, athletic wear and medical devices that must withstand or analyse sweat. It also serves as a realistic medium for training and education without biological samples.
It is supplied not stabilized and preservative-free, with a 6-month shelf life unopened; a stabilized version with non-toxic preservatives is available on request and has a 1-year shelf life. The pH, the formulation and the pack size can be customized. Prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system.
