Product Overview
Biochemazone Artificial Sweat without Lactic Acid BZ461 is a ready-to-use, sterile synthetic sweat at pH 6.3 that leaves out lactic acid. It replicates the ionic composition and properties of natural sweat with water, the essential electrolytes – sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium and chloride – urea and other key components. Leaving out the lactic acid gives a blank matrix for lactate measurements and lets you separate the effect of lactic acid from the effect of the salts in a material or skin test.
BZ461 is used to test and calibrate skin sensors and wearable devices, above all lactate sensors that need a lactate-free baseline; in dermatological studies of skin-sweat interaction; in textile durability and product-safety testing; and in the development of clothing, skincare and cosmetic products. Its water-like viscosity and density are matched to natural sweat, and the solution is clear and colourless so that it does not interfere with optical assessment.
It is supplied not stabilized and preservative-free, with a 6-month shelf life unopened; a stabilized version with non-toxic preservatives is available on request and has a 1-year shelf life. The pH, the formulation and the pack size can be customized. Prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system. Why would I want sweat without lactic acid?
A lactate-free matrix is the blank for lactate sensor work and for spiking with known lactate levels. It also lets you test whether an effect on a material comes from the lactic acid or from the salts.
