Product Overview

Biochemazone Simulated Endosteal Fluid BZ440, also called artificial endosteal fluid, is a ready-to-use synthetic solution designed to replicate the properties of natural endosteal fluid, at pH 7.4. Endosteal fluid is found within the bone marrow and lines the inner surfaces of bones. It contains water, electrolytes, proteins and enzymes, which mimic the physical and chemical characteristics of the natural fluid. The pH of natural endosteal fluid is typically around 7.4, and the standard formulation is set at 7.4. Its viscosity and density are matched to the natural fluid, and it stays stable through the test.

Research laboratories use it to study bone function, pathology and metabolic processes within the bone marrow and the endosteal space, and in tests that assess biomarkers and simulate conditions within the endosteal region. It is also used to test and calibrate medical devices and diagnostic tools that interact with bone fluids, such as bone marrow sensors and imaging systems, in research on bone metabolism, bone marrow function and the effects of treatments on bone, and in training, without the need for natural endosteal fluid.

It is supplied stabilized and has a 1-year shelf life unopened; a preservative-free version (6-month shelf life) and a dried Powder Version Kit are available on request. Because it contains proteins and enzymes, keep it at 2–8 °C if it is to be stored for a long time. The formulation, minerals, organic content and pH can be customized. This simulated fluid is for scientific research and in vitro use only; it is not for clinical diagnosis or treatment. For the liver see Simulated Periportal Fluid (BZ439); for the general interstitial fluid see Simulated Interstitial Fluid (BZ254).
