Biochemazone Simulated Otic Fluid BZ433, also called artificial otic fluid, is a ready-to-use synthetic solution designed to replicate the properties of natural ear secretions, at pH 5.5. It replicates the physical and chemical properties of natural ear secretions, such as viscosity, density and pH level. The pH of natural ear secretions is about 4.5 to 6.5; the standard formulation is set at 5.5.
Research laboratories use it to study the interaction between the fluid and the ear canal environment, and in tests that simulate natural ear secretions and assess their impact. It is commonly used in research and testing environments for the in vitro evaluation of ear-related medical devices, pharmaceuticals and hearing aids. It is also used to test and calibrate medical devices that interact with ear secretions, such as diagnostic tools for ear health, in the development of new technologies and procedures related to ear care, and in training, without the need for human ear secretions.
It is supplied stabilized and has a 1-year shelf life unopened; a preservative-free version (6-month shelf life) and a dried Powder Version Kit are available on request. The formulation, minerals, organic content and pH can be customized. This simulated fluid is for scientific research and in vitro use only; it is not for clinical diagnosis or treatment.
