Product Overview
Biochemazone Artificial Saliva with Cortisol BZ411 is a ready-to-use synthetic solution designed to mimic natural saliva and to carry cortisol, the stress hormone measured in saliva. It contains the components that give saliva its physical and chemical properties – water, electrolytes and proteins – together with cortisol, at a default pH of 6.8, within the range of natural saliva (about 6.2 to 7.6).
Salivary cortisol is a non-invasive measure of adrenal function and stress. BZ411 is used to develop and check salivary cortisol tests, to test and calibrate medical devices and biosensors that work with saliva, in research on the interaction between cortisol and the oral environment, and for training and education, where it gives realistic samples without the need for human saliva. Its viscosity and density are matched to natural saliva.
It is supplied not stabilized and preservative-free, with a 6-month shelf life unopened; a stabilized version is available on request and has a 1-year shelf life. The cortisol level and the pH are made to your specification. Because it contains proteins, keep it at 2–8 °C if it is to be stored for a long time.
