Biochemazone Simulated Perspiration Test as per ISO 2812-1 Standard pH 4.7 Stabilized BZ408 is a ready-to-use, sterile acidic simulated sweat at pH 4.7 for testing paints and varnishes. ISO 2812-1, Paints and varnishes – Determination of resistance to liquids – Part 1: Immersion in liquids other than water, sets out how a coating is exposed to a test liquid and assessed afterwards. The standard does not prescribe a sweat formulation; BZ408 provides a standardized acidic sweat – minerals and metabolites at pH 4.7 – as the test liquid for coatings that will be handled or worn.
BZ408 is stabilized with preservative, stabilizer, antifungal and antibacterial agents, so the solution stays free of microbial growth through long immersion tests and repeated opening, and has a 1-year shelf life unopened. A not-stabilized, preservative-free version is available on request, and the pH can be customized from 2 to 9 at no additional cost.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does ISO 2812-1 specify the sweat formulation?
No. ISO 2812-1 describes the immersion procedure for liquids other than water and leaves the test liquid to the product specification. BZ408 is a standardized acidic simulated sweat at pH 4.7 for use as that liquid.
Why a stabilized solution?
Immersion tests can run for days or weeks. The stabilizer system keeps the solution free of microbial growth over that time. A preservative-free version with a 6-month shelf life is available on request.
