Biochemazone Artificial Oropharyngeal Fluid BZ347, also called simulated oropharyngeal fluid, is a sterile, ready-to-use solution that simulates the composition and pH of human oropharyngeal fluid. It can be used directly and is supplied at pH 6.7; the stabilizer, pH and contents can be customized.
The oropharynx consists of the structures at the back of the throat: the base of the tongue, the palatine tonsils, the posterior pharyngeal wall and the soft palate. Fluid from this region is collected by swab, aspirate or wash. BZ347 gives laboratories an oropharyngeal fluid of constant composition for in vitro testing and diagnostic research, for example as a matrix in work on the detection of bacterial and viral pathogens, such as those of diphtheria, meningitis, pertussis, COVID-19 and pneumonia.
It is supplied stabilized and has a 1-year shelf life unopened; a preservative-free version (6-month shelf life) and a dried Powder Version Kit are available on request. The stabilizer, pH and contents can be customized to the project. This simulated fluid is for scientific research and in vitro use only; it is not for clinical diagnosis or treatment.
