Product Overview

Biochemazone 1X TE Buffer, pH 8.0 BZ210 is a ready-to-use Tris-EDTA solution for dissolving, diluting and storing DNA. It is the standard buffer for resuspending purified plasmid, genomic and PCR DNA and for diluting primers and oligonucleotides.

TE contains 10 mM Tris-HCl, which holds the pH at 8.0 where DNA is stable, and 1 mM EDTA, which chelates the magnesium and other divalent ions that nucleases need. Together they protect nucleic acids from degradation. The solution is autoclaved and supplied DNase-free.

Each batch is prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system.

Frequently asked questions

What is TE buffer used for?

TE is used to dissolve, dilute and store DNA. The Tris holds the pH at 8.0 and the EDTA chelates the divalent ions that nucleases need, which protects the DNA.

What is the composition of BZ210?

10 mM Tris-HCl and 1 mM EDTA, adjusted to pH 8.0, in high-purity water.

Can I add DNA in TE straight into PCR or enzyme reactions?

Yes, in small volumes. EDTA chelates magnesium, so if a large volume of DNA in TE goes into a reaction, use low-EDTA TE or 10 mM Tris-HCl (BZ234) instead.

Is BZ210 suitable for RNA?

TE pH 8.0 is mainly used for DNA. For RNA work that calls for RNase-free reagents, an RNase-free TE can be prepared on request.

How should TE buffer be stored?

Store at 2–30 °C. Unopened bottles have a 1-year shelf life and ship at room temperature.
