Biochemazone Artificial Saliva for Medical and Dental Research BZ109 is a ready-to-use, sterile artificial saliva at pH 6.8 formulated for medical and dental research on the basis of published studies. Its ingredients simulate the mineral composition, the enzymes and the pH of natural saliva, and viscosity enhancers give it the flow and coating behaviour of real human saliva.
BZ109 is used to study dry mouth and saliva substitutes, to test dental materials, restoratives, adhesives and oral-care products under mouth-like conditions, to age and stain dental resins and ceramics, and as a medium for demineralisation, erosion and wear studies. It is for in vitro use only.
It is supplied not stabilized and preservative-free, with a 6-month shelf life unopened; a stabilized version is available on request and has a 1-year shelf life. The pH and the contents can be customized. Because it contains enzymes, keep it at 2–8 °C if it is to be stored for a long time.
