Product Overview
Biochemazone Synthetic Sewage Feed BZ636 is a defined substitute for domestic sewage in activated-sludge laboratory tests. It is a concentrated solution of peptone, meat extract, urea and salts, of the type described in OECD 209 (activated sludge respiration inhibition), OECD 303A (simulation test with activated sludge units) and ISO 11733. Unlike real sewage, it is the same from batch to batch and carries no pathogens.
The feed is supplied as a concentrate and diluted with water as your method directs, then used to feed activated sludge or laboratory treatment units. It has a pH of about 7.5 (range 7.0–8.0).
Synthetic sewage spoils quickly once opened, so keep bottles closed until use and use opened concentrate promptly. Check the recipe and dilution given in your version of each guideline. Each batch is prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system.
