Product Overview
Biochemazone Synthetic Bird Droppings and Tree-Resin Simulant BZ700 are test soils for checking how automotive clearcoats and other exterior coatings resist etching and staining by bird droppings and tree sap. Real droppings and resin vary widely; a defined test soil gives repeatable spots that can be compared between coatings and laboratories.
The bird-dropping simulant is based on pancreatin, the enzyme mixture used in published clearcoat studies to reproduce the enzymatic attack of bird droppings. It is supplied as a dry powder and mixed with water to a paste before spotting; the freshly prepared mix has a pH of about 7–8. The tree-resin simulant is a natural pine resin (rosin) for sap-staining tests. Pancreatin is of porcine origin.
Spotted panels are usually exposed in a temperature-gradient oven, the method described in ISO 2812-5. Concentrations and exposure conditions differ between vehicle-maker methods, so check the requirements of the method you follow. Made under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system.
