Applications of Simulated Semen

One of the applications of simulated semen is to evaluate its influence in the performance of applied topical therapeutic, contraceptive, and prophylactic formulations.

Human semen is a mixture of components produced by several different glands. These components are incompletely mixed during ejaculation; hence, the initial ejaculate is not an entirely homogeneous mixture. The prostate is the primary source of acid phosphatase, citric acid, inositol, calcium, zinc, and magnesium. The seminal vesicles’ contribution is rich in fructose, ascorbic acid, and prostaglandins, while the concentrations of L-carnitine and neutral alpha-glucosidase are indications of epididymal function.

Simulated Semen Fluid

The simulation of mammalian male reproductive secretions or seminal fluids by specific odoriferous chemical compounds comprised of 1-Methyl Pyrrolidine, 1-Methyl-2-Pyrrolidine Methanol, 1-Methyl-2 Pyrrolidine Ethanol, Pyrrolidine, and 2-Pyrrolidone either alone or in various combinations with one another. The simulated seminal fluid’s novel odor and appearance are enhanced by the incorporation of various thickeners, suspending agents, solvents, coloring agents, preservatives, and surfactants.
