Product Overview
Biochemazone Simulated Salivary Fluids (SSF) BZ327 is a ready-to-use, sterile biorelevant simulated salivary fluid at pH 6.8 developed for dissolution testing in the oral cavity. A biorelevant medium has to match more than the pH: during development the pH, buffer capacity, surface tension and viscosity of the fluid are assessed and optimized to mimic human saliva, so that a dosage form disintegrates and releases its drug as it would in the mouth.
BZ327 is used for dissolution and disintegration testing of orally disintegrating tablets, films, lozenges, chewables and buccal or sublingual products, for taste-masking evaluation, and as a saliva matrix for biosensor testing and quality-control preparations. To account for the salivary proteins of human saliva, bovine submaxillary mucin or porcine gastric mucin can be included.
It is supplied not stabilized and preservative-free, with a 6-month shelf life unopened; a stabilized version is available on request and has a 1-year shelf life.
