Biochemazone Simulated Peritoneal Fluid BZ289, also called artificial peritoneal fluid or synthetic peritoneal fluid, is a sterile, ready-to-use solution that simulates the composition and pH of peritoneal fluid. The standard formulation is set at pH 7.6, within the range pH 7.5 to 8.0, and the pH can be customized to the project requirement.
Peritoneal fluid is a liquid made in the abdominal cavity. It lubricates the surface of the tissue that lines the abdominal wall and the pelvic cavity, and it covers most of the organs in the abdomen. An increased volume of peritoneal fluid is called ascites. BZ289 gives laboratories a peritoneal fluid of constant composition for in vitro research, in place of a fluid that cannot practically be collected.
It is supplied stabilized and has a 1-year shelf life unopened; a preservative-free version (6-month shelf life) and a dried Powder Version Kit are available on request. The formulation, minerals, organic content and pH can be customized. This simulated fluid is for scientific research and in vitro use only; it is not for clinical diagnosis or treatment.
