Product Overview

Biochemazone Simulated Ileostomy Effluent and Colostomy Output BZ594 are test fluids for developing and testing ostomy products. They reproduce the consistency and chemistry of stoma output, which differs sharply between the two types of stoma.

Ileostomy effluent is a loose, porridge-like material rich in water, sodium and bile, at a pH of about 7.0 (range 6.5–7.5). It is offered enzyme-free or with digestive enzymes (protease and lipase activity), because active enzymes in ileostomy output are what erode skin barriers and adhesives. Colostomy output is thicker and paste-like, at a pH of about 6.8 (range 6.0–7.5).

The fluids are non-biological and pathogen-free, and are prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system. They let pouch, filter and barrier makers compare designs under realistic and repeatable conditions.

Key Features & Benefits

✅ Two Stoma Types – Ileostomy effluent and colostomy output
✅ Enzyme Option – Ileostomy fluid with protease and lipase activity for barrier-erosion tests
✅ pH About 7.0 (Ileostomy) and 6.8 (Colostomy) – Within the measured ranges of stoma output
✅ Realistic Consistency – Porridge-like (ileostomy) or paste-like (colostomy)
✅ Pathogen-Free – No biological faecal material
✅ Consistent Batch-to-Batch – Repeatable product comparisons
✅ ISO 3696 Grade Water – Prepared using high-purity laboratory water
✅ Made in Canada – Manufactured under ISO 9001 / GMP quality systems
