Product Overview
Biochemazone Equine Simulated Gastric Fluid BZ705 is a test medium for products aimed at the horse’s stomach, including gastric-ulcer treatments, antacids and buffers, and feed supplements. Testing in a horse-like medium shows how much acid a product neutralises, how long the effect lasts and whether actives stay stable.
Three types are offered. The fasted-state fluid is an acidified salt solution with pepsin and a pH of about 2.0 (range 1.5–3.0). The fed-state fluid has a pH of about 5.0 (range 4.0–6.0), reflecting the buffering effect of forage. The third type adds volatile fatty acids (acetic, propionic, butyric and valeric acids), which are produced by fermentation in the stomach and are studied for their role in damage to the squamous mucosa, at a pH of about 2.0. Pepsin is of porcine origin.
The compositions are based on published equine gastric data, which vary with feeding, time of day and stomach region; we can adjust pH or acid levels to match your protocol. Each batch is prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system.
