Product Overview
Biochemazone Synthetic Swine Oral Fluid Matrix BZ688 is a negative matrix for validating PCR and antibody tests on pen-based oral fluid collected with chewing ropes. Oral fluid differs from serum in protein content, viscosity and inhibitors, and assays developed for serum need to be adapted to it. A defined synthetic matrix gives a steady baseline for spiking, limit-of-detection and recovery work.
The matrix contains the main electrolytes of pig saliva, mucin for viscosity, and a low level of albumin, with a pH of about 7.5 (range 7.0–8.0). It contains no nucleic acids, pathogens or antibodies. Two types are offered: a clear matrix and a matrix with particulate load that adds fine plant fibre to mimic the feed and bedding debris found in rope samples.
The mucin is of porcine (animal) origin and the albumin is bovine. Each batch is prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system.
