Product Overview
Biochemazone Artificial Perspiration ISO 3160-2 with Pyruvic Acid BZ617 is a buffered version of the ISO 3160-2 artificial sweat used to test the corrosion resistance of watch cases, bracelets and jewellery. The base ISO 3160-2 solution contains sodium chloride, lactic acid, urea and ammonia; this version adds pyruvic acid, another organic acid found in human sweat, and a buffer that holds the pH steady during long exposures.
The solution is supplied at pH 4.7 (range 4.5–4.9), the acidic sweat pH used for the ISO 3160-2 test. Holding the pH constant makes results from long or elevated-temperature tests more repeatable, because the unbuffered solution drifts as ammonia evaporates.
Each batch is prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water, stabilised, and checked for pH under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system. For the standard unbuffered solution see our ISO 3160-2 Artificial Perspiration (BZ124).
