Biochemazone Artificial Interstitial Dermal Fluid BZ428, also called artificial dermal interstitial fluid, is a ready-to-use synthetic solution designed to replicate the properties of natural dermal interstitial fluid, at pH 7.2. It contains water, electrolytes, proteins and other relevant biomolecules, which mimic the physical and chemical characteristics of the natural fluid. The pH of natural dermal interstitial fluid is about 7.0 to 7.4; the standard formulation is set at 7.2. Its viscosity and density are matched to the natural fluid, and it stays stable through the test.
Research laboratories use it to study the interaction between interstitial fluid and the dermal environment, including nutrient exchange, waste removal and cellular health, and in tests that measure biomarkers in the interstitial fluid. It is also used to test and calibrate medical devices that interact with interstitial fluid, such as diagnostic tools and laboratory equipment designed to monitor dermal health, in the development of new technologies and procedures in dermatology, and in training, without the need for real dermal interstitial fluid.
It is supplied stabilized and has a 1-year shelf life unopened; a preservative-free version (6-month shelf life) and a dried Powder Version Kit are available on request. Because it contains protein, keep it at 2–8 °C if it is to be stored for a long time. The formulation, minerals, organic content and pH can be customized.
