Product Overview
Biochemazone Elevated-pH Gastric Fluid BZ650 simulates a stomach with little acid, as seen in patients taking proton-pump inhibitors or H2 blockers, in many elderly people and after some gastric surgery. Weakly basic drugs and pH-dependent formulations can dissolve very differently at these higher pH values than in standard 0.1 M HCl or FaSSGF.
Three fluids are offered, at pH 4.0, 5.0 and 6.0, each in a low-capacity buffer with sodium chloride at a physiological level so that the pH holds during dissolution without being unrealistically strong. The fluids are enzyme-free; pepsin has little activity at these pH values and can be added on request.
Choose the pH that matches the clinical situation you are modelling, and check the buffer against your dissolution method. We can supply other pH values or add bile salt and lecithin to match FaSSGF. Each batch is prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system.
