Product Overview

Biochemazone Edinburgh Test Soil BZ627 is a protein-rich test soil for checking how well washer-disinfectors clean surgical instruments and other reusable devices. It is prepared to the UK national test soil given in the annexes of ISO/TS 15883-5:2005, where it was listed alongside other national soils for cleaning-efficacy testing.

The soil is applied to instruments or test pieces, allowed to dry, and processed through the washer-disinfector cycle. Residual protein is then detected visually or with a protein test. Its pH is near neutral, about 7.0 (range 6.5–7.5), so it does not favour acidic or alkaline detergents in comparative tests.

ISO/TS 15883-5:2005 has been replaced by ISO 15883-5:2021, which sets out a different approach to test soils. Check which soil your protocol or notified body requires. Each batch is prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system. The soil contains animal-derived protein.
