Product Overview
Biochemazone Canine Synthetic Sebum BZ678 is a lipid blend modelled on the skin-surface lipid of dogs. It is used to soil hair swatches and skin models for pet-shampoo cleansing tests, and to study how spot-on and pour-on products spread over the coat.
Dog skin lipid is not the same as human sebum. Human sebum is rich in triglycerides and squalene; published data for dogs show a lipid dominated by sterol esters and wax esters, with cholesterol and free fatty acids and little squalene. BZ678 follows that published pattern. It is an anhydrous lipid, so pH does not apply to the product itself; for context, dog skin-surface pH is about 7.0–7.5, higher than human skin. Some components, such as cholesterol, may be animal-derived (for example from lanolin); the source of each component is stated on the certificate.
Warm gently to melt and mix before use. Apply by weight or from a solvent solution for even loading. Made under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system.
