Product Overview
Biochemazone Equine Sweat Simulant BZ720 is a test fluid for tack, saddles, saddle pads, girths, leather goods and horse blankets. Horse sweat is very different from human sweat: it is much richer in salts, especially potassium, and it foams because it contains a surfactant protein called latherin. Human perspiration fluids therefore understate the load that equine products face.
The electrolyte version contains sodium, potassium and chloride at levels based on published horse sweat data, with lactate and urea, at a pH of about 7.5 (range 7.0–8.0). The lathering version adds a protein foaming agent to reproduce the lather seen on working horses. It uses bovine serum albumin (animal-derived) as a surrogate; latherin itself is not included.
Use the simulant for colour fastness, corrosion of buckles and fittings, leather ageing and wicking tests; check the method you follow for soaking and drying conditions. Each batch is prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system.
