Product Overview
Biochemazone Fish Simulated Gastric and Intestinal Fluids BZ707 are digestion media for in-vitro studies of aquafeeds and feed ingredients. They let feed developers compare protein sources and processing conditions before running fish feeding trials.
The gastric fluid is an acidic salt solution at pH 3.0 (range 2.5–3.5) containing pepsin, reflecting the stomach of fed carnivorous fish such as salmonids. The intestinal fluid is a bicarbonate-buffered salt solution at pH 7.8 (range 7.5–8.0) containing pancreatin and bile salts. The enzymes are mammalian surrogates: pepsin and pancreatin are porcine, and the bile salts are of animal origin. Fish enzyme extracts are not included.
Gut pH and enzyme activity differ between species and feeding states, so we recommend adjusting pH, enzyme level and salinity to the species you study. Each batch is prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system.
