Product Overview
Biochemazone EU Food Simulants BZ661 are the aqueous and ethanol simulants used to test migration from plastic food-contact materials under Regulation (EU) No 10/2011. Packaging, containers and kitchenware are filled with or immersed in the simulant for a set time and temperature, and the simulant is then analysed for overall and specific migration.
Four simulants are offered: A (10% ethanol, for aqueous foods), B (3% acetic acid, for acidic foods), C (20% ethanol, for alcoholic foods) and D1 (50% ethanol, for oil-in-water emulsions and dairy). Simulant B has a pH of about 2.4–2.6; the ethanol simulants are unbuffered and close to neutral (about pH 6–7). Ethanol content is checked for each batch.
Please note that the ethanol simulants are flammable and are shipped as dangerous goods, which adds to the shipping cost. Check the simulant assignment and test conditions for your material in the current text of the Regulation. Each batch is prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system.
