Product Overview
Biochemazone Viral Transport Medium and Amies Liquid Medium BZ663 are transport and holding media for research samples. They keep swab and sample material stable between collection and the laboratory, and are also used by assay developers as the sample matrix when building extraction and detection workflows.
Two media are offered. The viral transport medium follows the approach of the US CDC viral transport medium procedure: Hanks’ balanced salt solution with heat-inactivated fetal bovine serum (animal-derived) and antibiotic and antifungal agents, with a pH of about 7.2–7.4. Amies liquid medium is a buffered salt solution with sodium thioglycolate that keeps bacteria alive without letting them multiply, also at a pH of about 7.2–7.4. Swabs are not included.
These media are for research use only. Transport media for clinical specimens are regulated as medical devices in many countries, and these products are not cleared or registered for diagnostic use.
